Shop Local!, Part 2

By Chris Ogden

Looking for a last minute Christmas gift? The following local, independently-operated businesses sell gift cards, and would very much appreciate your support. And by purchasing from local small businesses, your money is far more likely to recirculate locally (boosting the local economy) than if you shop at corporate chains.

Our Top Picks

Molto Espresso, Walton

Gift cards in any amount, although there is a small additional fee for gift card amounts under $20. Great coffee drinks, as well as a variety of chai lattes, other teas, and Italian cream sodas. Also a great place for a meal: check out their paninis, specialty grilled cheese sandwiches, salads, soups, and more. Great cheesecake, muffins, cookies, scones, and other desserts.

I'm here almost every day for one of their tiger spice chai lattes (so good!), and I'm always surprised when I overhear someone saying, “I never knew this was here” or “This is the first time I've been to Molto”. So I encourage you to check it out if you've never been.

The Tulip and The Rose Cafe, Franklin

If you've never been to The Tulip and The Rose, in Franklin, you're missing out big time! As described on their Facebook page, “Our restaurant features cuisines from across the globe. Our chefs are masters in Turkish, Malay, Indian and Mediterranean cooking along with traditional American and Continental European specialties. Enjoy our brunch menu or join us on Friday and Saturday nights for our acclaimed menus with newly crafted menus every week.” Their Facebook page also has some of the most favorable reviews I've ever seen. This restaurant is a true gem.

Other Recommendations

Also consider your other favorite Walton restaurants, including Danny's Restaurant, Packin' Heat, T.A.'s Place, Gramma D's, etc.

A Time to Heal Massage Therapy also sells gift certificates, if you know of anyone in need of massage therapy or labor doula services.
